Getting Here

Taxis will get you to the venue in 20-25 minutes without traffic from most places in Taipei. They run according to the meter and will cost around 300-450 New Taiwan dollars. Show the taxi driver the following paragraph:

This will take you to Academia Sinica, Humanities and Social Sciences Building, 128 Section 2 Academia Road, Taipei.

Ask the taxi driver to enter the campus through the main gate. After passing through that gate, go straight even after you cross the little bridge. You want to turn left at the little temple, then the HSSB will be on your right.

Public transportation

Option 1: take the Taipei’s Metro Rapid Transit Blue Line or Brown Line to Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) station. Take exit 5 and cross the street to find a bus stop. You can take any of the buses numbered 205, 212, 276, 306, 645, or Bei-Huan Metro Bus Line (formerly 620) on Academia Road to Academia Sinica. You can also walk down Academia Road from there. It is a 25-30 minute walk and is very pleasant when the weather is nice.

Option 2: take the Blue Line or Taiwan High-Speed Rail or the TRA (Taiwan Railways Agency) to Nangang Station (南港站), then take a bus on Zhongxiao East Road (number 212 Express, 270, or Blue 25) to Academia Sinica. This is also what you would do from the Green World Nangang Hotel or the Courtyard. Walking from Nangang Station takes about 30-40 minutes.

Option 3: take any of the aforementioned buses directly to Academia Sinica.

Getting from Taoyuan International Airport to the conference venue and lodgings

By taxi

This is the fastest way (about 45 minutes), runs according to meter, and will cost around 1400 New Taiwan dollars (NT$1400 is about 45 USD or 45 EUR). You will need Taiwanese money. Show the taxi driver the following paragraph:

The above will take you to Academia Sinica, Academic Activities Center. Ask the taxi driver to enter the campus through the main gate and go until you cross the little bridge, then turn left and on the right you find the Academic Activities Center.

Public transportation possibility #1

Take King (Kuo-Kuang) Bus number 1843 to Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) which takes about 80 minutes. There are buses every 45-65 minutes starting at Terminal 1 and stopping at Terminal 2. The 1-way fare is NT$158, with Taiwanese money, or about 8 USD on KLOOK. Take a taxi from there for another NT$100. See also the Taoyuan Airport’s website on public transportation. Take a taxi from Nangang Exhibition Hall for about 100 TWD or a bus.

Public transportation possibility #2

Take the Taoyuan Airport MRT (you want the purple trains, every 15 minutes and runs in about 35 minutes from airport to Taipei Main Station, not the blue ones). Take a taxi or walk to the real Taipei Main Station (there is a long walkway) and from there take the Blue Line to Nangang Exhibition Hall and a bus from there.

By Car

Take the Zhongshan Highway and connect to 86 Expressway towards the Tainan direction, make a right and to get off the exit→ Yongcheng Road → Shialin Road → make a right at Yonghua Road → make a left at Ximen Road → make a right at Heyi Road → Silks Place Tainan.

By Bus

Depart from the station’s main (west) exit and walk along the circle to the “Tainan Train Station (South Station) Stop.” Take Bus 1, 5, Red Line, or Blue Line to the “Xiao Ximen Stop.” Exit the bus and walk eastward along He Yi Road for 50 meters to arrive at Silks Place Tainan.

Free Shuttle From Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR)

Arrive at THSR Tainan Station → Go to exit 2 to take free shuttle bus「H31」route → Roughly 40 mins by bus → Exit the bus at “Siaosimen(Tayih Landis Tainan) Stop” → Walk eastward along He Yi Road for 5 mins to arrive at Silks Place Tainan.

Bus from Tainan Airport

Exit from the baggage claim area and walk to the bus stop labeled “Tainan Airport Stop” and await Bus #5. Exit the bus at “Xiao Ximen Stop.” Walk eastward along He Yi Road for 50 meters to arrive at Silks Place Tainan.
